Ed Habal

Ed Habal has 25 years of real world, hands on systems, storage, server, database, application, and web programming experience with the US Air Force, US Navy, US Army, corporations, small business and non profit organizations. He's built networks from scratch doing everything from rebuilding PCs, building and configuring file servers and networks to developing web applications, designing SQL Server databases and configuring MS Exchange. Much work recently has focused on Virtualization using VMware. Secure remote access solutions using Juniper SSL VPN and MS Terminal Servers have also been recently developed. Served as the Department of Surgery Systems Analyst. Accomplishes IT projects for the Department of Surgery and Tripler Army Medical Center. Works directly with Vendors, USAMMA, USAMITC, Tripler AMC (Telecom, Networks, Systems, HIPAA) and Department/Clinic POCs in development of Policies, Plans, Documentation, and delivery of services. Ensures the IT program is in compliance with higher authority policies and guidelines. Ensures the application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices. Assists in technical evaluations and determination of requirements for new and existing systems to include interconnection of multi-vendor systems, and communications specifications. Serves as the Departmental Information Assurance Systems Officer (IASO) for more than thirty (30) specialty and sub-specialty clinically focused systems. Currently working as the IPM supervisor overseeing patch management and imaging for over 11,000 systems in Hawaii.

He also has experience teaching at the University level as an adjunct Professor for the University of South Carolina, The University of Maryland and Central Texas College.
